    University Recreation is one of the largest employers of students on campus.     University Recreation (UREC) is extremely proud of all of its student employees and the continuous hard work and dedication they put forth to making UREC better each day.  Each month, all areas select an Area MVP. Out of this group of MVP's, the Employee of the Month is selected. Below are the current January winners.

    February Employee of the Month: Johnathon McKenzie

    Johnathon McKenzie serves as the Marketing Photographer for University Recreation.

    Garrett is always focused on others and often goes out of his way to make sure other people feel included and cared for. His presence in the Campus Center is nearly constant and he has relationships across the department, which helps hold UREC together. This month specifically, Garrett heavily assisted, planned and executed a first-time West Georgia Outdoors event: The Dyno Bouldering Competition.

    Graduate Assistants

    University Recreation at the University of West Georgia awards graduate assistantships in Competitive Sports, Event Operations, Facility Operations, Operations & Student Development, Fitness and Wellness, and Outdoor Recreation designed to provide practical experience and develop exceptional leaders in their field.

     UREC graduate assistants for the fall 19 through spring 20 school year

    Currently Hiring:

    Assistantships are 9.5 month appointments with a stipend of $7,600 in addition to full tuition provided with the option to continue work from May - July. Additional funds are allotted each year for professional development opportunities.

    Offers are contingent upon acceptance into a graduate program at UWG. Application information and deadlines for the graduate programs may be found on the UWG Graduate School website.

    Anticipated start date:  Aug. 3, 2020
