Honors Study Abroad in Ireland

This May (5/29-6/13), the Honors College will be hosting an exciting and educational trip to Ireland! The program is a two-week experiential learning opportunity for Honors College students to explore issues of gender and sexuality and also the relationship between place and identity through a comparative cultural lens. The program will incorporate on-site and post-program reflections and projects to enhance what students have read and discussed in their Maymester courses pre-departure. While abroad, students will build a deeper understanding of areas in which gender and sexuality play a vital role such as the arts, education, feminism, human rights, language, literature, media, public health, policy, and politics. Students will reflect upon their own experience being away from home and what impact that has on their understanding of themselves. The program is based in Waterford with many excursions and day trips to surrounding villages, parks, and sites including Dublin.
