Alpha Kappa Delta was founded in 1920 and is dedicated to the ideal of Anthropon Katamanthanein Diakonesein ("To investigate humanity for the purpose of service"). The objective of this society is to promote an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, or other social and intellectual activities that will lead to improvement in the human condition. Only those students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field of sociology are invited.
