Through its undergraduate programs, the Department of Physical Education and Recreation strives to:
-
Enhance students’ knowledge of health and wellness, and to enhance their skills in lifetime activities that can improve their quality of life;

Prepare student majors to effectively teach P-12 health and physical education; and
-
Prepare student majors for employment and effective leadership in the sport management industry.
Through its graduate programs, the Department of Physical Education and Recreation strives to:
- Enhance the effectiveness of health and physical education teachers as they impact the lives of p-12 students and their families;
- Build capacity for teacher leadership, instructional supervision, and advocacy in educators that enables them to effect healthful change in their building, district, and community; and
- Build knowledge and experience related to the sport industry that leads to effective leadership and managements for business graduates.Â
