The Health & Wellness Center is a new 122,500 sq. ft instruction, convocation and sports facility that will be located on the main campus in Carrollton, Georgia. The Department of Physical Education and Recreation will also call this building their home. The Ground Breaking for this new facility was held on August 16, 2007.

HWCThis large facility will comprise of two volumes connected by a two-story glass atrium. The largest of the two volumes (95,000 sq. ft) will have five basketball courts on the main floor that can be used for activity type instruction. This large space can easily be converted into a 7,000 seating capacity arena via movable bleachers to be used for large convocations and events. This facility also will serve as home of the UWG Wolves Basketball & Volleyball teams.

The smaller volume will house the Department of Physical Education and Recreation offices and primary classrooms. HWCA state-of-the-art human performance lab, weight training, aerobics, and 75 person stadium seating classroom will be located in this part of the building.

Outside the building there will be large green spaces that can be used for outdoor activity type classes, outdoor events and staging areas for large events inside the facility.

The University of West Georgia hopes to take ownership of the new building in early December 2008.
