The new dean of the College of Education, Dr. Kim K. Metcalf, introduced new faculty members and delivered his "vision" for the future of the college at the Fall Faculty Meeting.

Dean Metcalf shared his plans to establish the College of Education as a recognized and influential leader in the contemporary preparation and support of education, counseling, and sport management professionals. This new vision "requires that we think differently about ourselves and our work. We must do more than disseminate the ideas of others."

The dean's four goals for leadership are to:

1. Develop collaborative partnerships with the widest possible     range of partners
2. Leverage our capacities and sharing resources
3. Function as an evidence-based culture at all levels
4. Integrate the use of evidence throughout our practice

The college's intended strategies for the coming year will focus on three primary areas:

1. Faculty recruitment & development
2. Support and infrastructure for partnership development
3. Integrated system of data collection, management, and reporting

What lies ahead for the College of Education?

"There is much work to be done. This year will be one of transition and, thus, uncomfortable in some ways. We are taking the first steps in what will be an extended but valuable journey. I look forward to collaborating with you on this exciting work." -Dr. Kim K. Metcalf
