Leadership Preparation Changes
PSC Adopts New Leadership Certification Rules
On December 13, 2007, the Professional Standards Commission adopted new certification rules that govern how Educational Leaders will be prepared in the state of Georgia. Recognizing the impact that leaders have on 21st century school improvement and school achievement, the rule changes incorporate a number of components, such as:
- New preparation program standards
- A new certification exam (GACE)
- A new certificate structure
September 30, 2009 Deadline
Students who want to earn their Educational Leadership certification under the “old” program must complete all program requirements and submit a completed certificate application packet to the Professional Standards Commission before September 30, 2009. In essence, students must complete course work in the Summer 2009 semester.
