Student Orientation
Students entering the program (both full and part-time) will be required to attend an orientation program (Effective Fall Semester 2003).

The goals of the session are:
- To introduce students to their academic advisors and ask questions as needed about the program
- To familiarize students with the requirements of their individual programs.
- All students will be introduced to:
- Student expectations in classes (professional and personal conduct)
- Departmental Rules and Policies
- The advising requirement whereby students must:
- meet with advisor during the first semester,
- plan program of study and
- have signed program sheets distributed to the students file, Graduate School Dean and student.
- Program assessment procedures used to collect information for program improvement purposes.
- The program portfolio requirement at the end of the program.
- Registering for graduation two semesters in advance.
- Registration fees for on and off-campus courses.
- How to use current distance technologies to deliver the program: GSAMS, WebCT, and Horizon. The Distance and Distributed Education Office will conduct the training session.
- Student questions and concerns will be addressed.
- Digital photos taken of new students and collect demographic data for contact purposes during the program. (i.e., e-mail addresses, home and work addresses and phone numbers).
- Other timely information as appropriate.
