Graduate Program Mission StatementAt the graduate level, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction
strives to enable M.Ed. students to enhance their skills in critical
thinking, comprehension of research, and decision making in order to
be more effective practitioners. In addition, Ed. S. candidates are
expected to become advanced scholars, change agents and leaders in their
profession, and capable of completing research studies so to add to
the growing field of professional literature. The department utilizes
the five core propositions of the National Board of Professional Teaching
Standards (NBPTS) for our graduate programs which can be found at the
