Faculty Profile

Brent M. Snow

Professor

I am currently the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs @ UWG and came to this position after 16 years as a Professor and Chair of the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology. Previously, I was a faculty member in both Psychology and Applied Behavioral Studies at Oklahoma State University for 13 years and before that at the University of Idaho for 5 years. I am a southerner by birth and picked cotton in my early years (OK, it was southern Idaho and potatoes)!

Degrees:

Ph.D. University of Idaho

M.S. Oklahoma State University

B.S. Brigham Young University

A.S. Boise College (now Boise State University)

Personal Interests:

I am the world record holder and sand surfing champion of the St.Anthony, Idaho Sand Dunes as well as the skateboard (sidewalk surfing) champion of the world. I have held these titles since the early 1960's but have never been recognized appropriately--possibly because I'm the only one who knows it. I recently declared myself the backwards walking champion of the universe and no one has yet to dispute it. Most of my interests revolve around athletics/sports plus trying to figure out what is going on with my children and grandkids. I used to run (usually mistaken for a cheetah or a corvette) and play basketball and racquetball but my running has morphed into what many call waddling (I assume that to be a complement but then I don't hear so well either).

Professional Interests:

*Ethical and Legal Issues in counseling and psychotherapy
*Transforming School Counseling Initiative
*Accreditation in Counselor Education
*Licensure, Certification, and Professional Issues
*School, Community, Rehabilitation, and Mental Health Counseling
*Children, Youth, and Adults with disabilities
*Publications in journals such as: Journal of Counseling and Development; Counselor Education and Supervision; Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin; Journal of Family Psychology; NASPA Journal; Journal for the Professional Counselor; Rehabilitation Education; Theory Into Practice; Journal of Research in Education; etc.
