Both master's degrees in school counseling and community counseling are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). CACREP is a prestigious and national accreditation body that recognizes high quality counseling programs at the master's and doctoral level. The Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology is only one of four such accredited programs in Georgia and one of 16 in the southeastern United States. Both the community and school counseling programs are accredited through June 30, 2008. In addition, both the M.Ed. and Ed.S. programs in school counseling are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) for recommendation for Georgia professional educator certification in school counseling (S-5 and S-6 levels).
