I have recently joined the CEPD faculty at West Ga. I am excited to be here and began teaching in the fall, 2004 semester. Prior to coming to UWG, I served as a middle school counselor in the public school system for 9 years and as a high school counselor at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice for 6 years. I also served as a mental health counselor with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health in a community setting and worked with both chronic and acute mentally ill adults.

I am interested in developing ways for school counselors to help their students cope with trauma and disasters. I am also interested in preparing school counslors with competencies to aid students in building resilience. In addition, advocacy in the school counseling profession is of interest to me.
I enjoy walking and hiking and being outside! I am an avid reader and especially like reading nonfiction crime thrillers. Also, I love to travel and explore new places. I have a golden retriever, "Amber" and 2 cats, "Fuzzie" and "Peanut." My animals keep me busy!
