The Center for Economic Education is a cooperative effort of the Richard's College of Business and the College of Education whose mission is to help teachers teach economics to students in the public and independent schools of Georgia.

GLOBE "Hands-On" Science Education

GLOBE is a world-wide, hands-on, K-12 environmental science education program that gives students the opportunity to learn science by doing science. Many activities are aligned with the Georgia QCCs and support existing science curricula in local schools. GLOBE provides assistance to teachers through professional development workshops, teachers' guides, "how-to" training videos; and continuing support through a Help Desk, scientists, and teachers world-wide. Joint COE / Georgia Highlands College Early Childhood Initiative

This is a collaborative endeavor between the University of West Georgia's College of Education and Georgia Highlands College to offer a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education on the Georgia Highlands College campus in Rome, Georgia.

PRISM Grant

PRISM seeks to increase science and mathematics achievement by providing challenging science and mathematics curricula for all students; raising public awareness of the need for all students to complete the challenging curricula; increasing and sustaining the number, quality and diversity of P-12 teachers of science and mathematics; and increasing the responsiveness of higher education to the needs of schools.

Project Citizen

We the People...Project Citizen is a portfolio-based civic education project for middle grade students and youth groups presented by the Center for Civic Education and the National Conference of State Legislatures and coordinated in Georgia from the campus of the University of West Georgia by Dr. Judy Butler.

Richards College of Business Articulation Agreement

The purpose is to coordinate the efforts of instructional and administrative personnel of secondary public school systems and the University of West Georgia’s Richards College of Business.

Teaching Fellows Program

The UWG Teaching Fellows Program is an intense, rigorous induction program for first-year teachers who hold a Georgia T4 Early Childhood Education teaching certificate.

West Georgia Leadership Academy

The West Georgia Leadership Academy supports and assists current and aspiring school leaders in the west Georgia region. Current initiatives include the (1) Principal Support Program, (2) Aspiring Leaders Program, (3) Teachers-as-Leaders Program, and (4) Assistant Principal Academy. West Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center

The West Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization established in 1993. It is one of thirteen GYSTCs located throughout the state. Our mission is to promote interest and enthusiasm in science, math, and the technologies among elementary and middle grade teachers and students.
